Remote Areas First Aid
This type of training gives the first aider greater confidence where the casualty may be isolated from professional help for some hours.
Content
The course is comprised of modules from our WorkCover and VETAB accredited First Aid Course. The online duration is approx 12 - 14 hours followed by 5 hours of practical training and testing.
The treatment that the casualty receives is covered in the basic First Aid course, but this course has additional emphasis on the following:
- Practical assessment of the injured casualty
- Recording and documentation of the casualty's vital signs
- Casualty planning re further assistance - when, how and what - means
- Splinting fractures in remote areas
- Positive inspiration therapy for the injured casualty
- Overnight bush skills
